Design and Process
This design was part of a summer camp with BRAVO Performing Arts. The show was performed twice with two different camps of children ages 9-13 with around 40 kids in each show. With this show, I strived to have clear color palettes for each group in the show: Darling family, Lost Boys, Brave Girls, and Pirates. I loved being able to have fun with fit and layers for these unique characters. My inspiration with the lost boys was warm, oversized, ill-fitting, patchwork and mismatched pattern. They are a group that makes-do with what they can find, but are bright and welcoming, making their colors yellow and orange. To keep Peter classically green, but part of the lost boys, I designed the patchwork and found-item buttons into their costume. My inspiration for the Brave Girls were fairy-woodland-warrior imagery. They are a groups that takes what they can find and shape into what they want and need. Their colors are earthly greens. The pirates are the richest colors and most layered from what they have stolen, purple and red.
